I’ve discovered the deutschsprachiger Gothic / Romantic / Metal / Rock musical project called ‘Mantus’ a few years ago. Unfortunately, by that time it was discontinued. Mantus discography included eight albums published between 2000 and 2005.
The song Utopia (Utopia Lyrics can be found here) from the “Fremde Welten” (2003) album might give some impression on the style of their music and beautiful German Gothic texts based on the philosophical ideas of romantic nihilism.
The name of the project was taken from mythology. In Roman and Etruscan mythology, Mantus and his wife, Mania were gods of the underworld. They were associated with the city Mantua (Italian: Mantova), which may derive its name from Mantus.
At the end of 2008, Mantus announced renewal of recording and concerting activity. The new album called “Requiem” (listen it here or here) has been released in 2009 and “Königreich der Angst” EP is coming soon.
Both Members of the project, Martin Schindler (music, lyrics, vocals, production) and Tina Schindler / Thalia (vocals), are also active in darkwave/electro act Black Heaven and gothic metal outfit Sepia.
